Riding Lessons

Sandy and Tom Hopeful Horse TrialsEnglish riding lessons on the flat or over fences are available depending on Tom's schedule. He is usually in Lewiston ID on Tuesdays and generally available during weekdays. Visit Tom's calendar to check his availability.

Call 208-875-0974 or 208-661-3892 (cell) to schedule a lesson. Whether you are a beginner just starting out or an experienced rider, Tom can help you learn or tune up for that next big event. Lesson horses are Outside Sand Arenaavailable or haul-in your own horse. The facility has a large sand arena, a variety of show jumps and cross-country jumps over rolling terrain. No haul-in fee!

The Farm also has stalls, paddocks and a small round pen available for overnighters. We welcome campers but no hookups are available.

100 Acre Wood FarmLesson Fees

Private, Semi-Private, Group

  • On Farm: $45/hr per rider
  • Off Farm: $50/hr per rider
    NOTE: Additional "haul-in" and/or barn fees may be added depending on the location of the lessons. Please check with your barn's management for policies on outside instructors.

Clinics: by arrangement

Coaching: by arrangement

Agent Fee: (for finding or selling a horse): 10% of purchase price

Release Forms

A signed Horseback Riding Release Form is required for all riders. The Medical Release Form is for minors and requires a parent's notarized signature. New clients can download the forms, fill them out and either mail or bring with you to your lesson.

Directions to 100 Acre Wood Farm

From Route 8, Deary ID:

  1. Take Route 9 (Harvard/Deary cutoff) to Route 6
  2. Take a left onto Route 6
  3. Take a left onto O'Reilly Road (you will see Bennett lumber yard just past O'Reilly Road)
  4. Follow O'Reilly Road to the very end. The farm is at the very top of the hill.

From Route 6, Potlatch ID:

  1. Take Route 6 through Princeton
  2. Pass empty lumber yard on right and continue to next lumberyard.
  3. Just past the next lumberyard (Bennett's) take a right onto O'Reilly road (if you hit Route 9 you have gone too far)
  4. Follow O'Reilly Road to the very end. The farm is at the very top of the hill.

From Pullman/Moscow

  1. If coming from Pullman, take ??? to Moscow
  2. Take I-95 North to Potlatch
  3. Bear right onto Route 6 through Potlatch and continue through Princeton
  4. Pass empty lumber yard on right and continue to next lumberyard.
  5. Just past the next lumberyard (Bennett's) take a right onto O'Reilly road (if you hit Route 9 you have gone too far)
  6. Follow O'Reilly Road to the very end. The farm is at the very top of the hill.

From Spokane:

  1. Take I-195 South to Exit for I-27 (Oaksdale)
  2. Continue through Oaksdale (do not take the turn to Tekoa)
  3. Continue on this road until you come to Palouse.
  4. Take a left onto Main street in the center of town.
  5. Continue 8-9 miles until you come to I-95
  6. Take a left onto I-95
  7. Bear right onto Route 6 in Potlatch and continue through Princeton
  8. Pass empty lumber yard on right and continue to next lumberyard.
  9. Just past the next lumberyard (Bennett's) take a right onto O'Reilly road (if you hit Route 9 you have gone too far)
  10. Follow O'Reilly Road to the very end. The farm is at the very top of the hill.
